Your back garden
For my ongoing four-year project, I wanted to do something related to children's toys and also something I was passionate about, which is the outdoors. I set my brief to be ' How can we encourage younger children to play outdoors with natural materials through imaginative play?'. This brief has been engaging and fun with having a group of children working alongside my designing, which has helped me understand user testing and how children nowadays play. This project is in its final testing stage so far, with a few images so far down below.
Some of the skills that I have learnt through this project is
User design. This project was tested throughout the year on a group of three younger children. This helped to shape the idea and theme of the project
Illustration of children's books. Part of this project was designed as a storybook in the kit. This helped me to understand the concept of children's illustration and storybook
Design experience. A large part of the project was looking at the kit as an experience. This taught me a lot about how to design for an experience.
Materials. This kit consists of a few different materials throughout, allowing me to learn about the importance of natural and non-toxic materials.
Branding. This project has a strong branding element, allowing the kit to be tied together nicely. This is done through logo, colour palette, font, graphics and character theme.
